History of Brochier Soieries

Since 1890, the Brochier family has been continuing a tradition that was born in Lyon in the 16th century: the manufacturer of exceptional cloth made of natural silk threads. Since the creation of the workshop, four generations have been following one another on the Croix-Rousse slopes, each of them transmitting to the next their passion for a work that demands a continuous involvement.

By combining a strong appetite for craftsmanship and an acute artistic sensibility, Jean Brochier and his offspring have given its fame to silk satin. The Brochier enterprise collaborated and quickly became sincere friends with artists such as Chagall, Miro, Giacometti, with famous couturiers as Dior or Patou, with patrons such as Aimé Maeght. They have been, and still are, taking the “High Novelty” to a level of excellence that is renowned worldwide.
